Church of Our Lady of the Bell Tower

The Church of Our Lady of the Bell Tower is one of Split’s most charming small sanctuaries, tucked beside the western walls of Diocletian’s Palace. Its name comes from the slender medieval bell tower that rises above the surrounding streets, a landmark that once guided sailors approaching the old harbour. The church itself dates to the 11th century, making it one of the oldest surviving sacred buildings in the city. Inside, the atmosphere is intimate and serene. The single‑nave interior preserves Romanesque simplicity, with clean lines and modest decoration.
