The Haus der Musik in Vienna is an innovative sound museum that invites visitors to explore the world of music through interactive exhibits and immersive experiences. Located in the historic Palais Erzherzog Carl, once home to the founder of the Vienna Philharmonic, the museum spans multiple floors dedicated to sound, composition, and Austria’s musical legacy. Guests can conduct a virtual orchestra, compose their own waltz, or walk up a staircase that plays musical notes with each step. One floor is devoted to the great composers of Vienna—Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and others—offering personal artifacts and multimedia displays that bring their stories to life. Another explores the science of sound, from how we hear to how music is created. The museum also houses the official Vienna Philharmonic Museum, showcasing rare instruments, scores, and memorabilia. Haus der Musik is centrally located at Seilerstätte 30, 1010 Vienna, in the historic Innere Stadt district, just a short walk from the Vienna State Opera and Stephansplatz. Housed in the former Erzherzog-Carl-Palais, this innovative museum offers a unique, interactive journey through the world of sound and music, featuring exhibits on the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna’s great composers, and immersive sound installations spread across four floors.
