Ghica Tei Palace, nestled between Lake Plumbuita and Lake Tei in northern Bucharest, is a striking example of early 19th-century neoclassical architecture. Built in 1822 by Prince Grigore Dimitrie Ghica as a summer residence, the palace reflects the Romanian aristocracy’s growing affinity for Western styles. Designed by architect Xavier Villacrosse, its symmetrical façade features sculpted lions, a Renaissance-inspired cornice, and a bas-relief of cannons and flags. Inside, mythological and botanical frescoes by Italian painter Giacometti adorn the halls. Adjacent to the palace stands the Lady Ghica’s Linden Tree Church, completed in 1833, forming part of a larger ensemble that includes a guardhouse and family necropolis. Over time, the building has served various roles—from government offices to a restaurant—and today functions as an event venue. Ghica Tei Palace remains a testament to Bucharest’s layered history, blending noble legacy with architectural elegance.

The palace is an impressive historic monument with preserved architecture, including spacious lounges, mythological ceiling decorations by the Italian painter Giacometti, and grand wooden staircases. Its setting on the Ghica Domain includes vast green spaces and gardens stretching toward Lake Plumbuita, creating a picturesque environment that blends history and nature.
