Carol Park is one of Bucharest’s most historic and picturesque green spaces, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural landmarks. Designed in 1906 by French landscape architect Édouard Redont, the park was created to celebrate Romania’s national achievements. It features lush gardens, winding pathways, and a scenic lake, making it a favorite spot for relaxation and exploration. Among its most notable monuments is the Mausoleum of the Nation’s Heroes, originally built as a communist memorial but later repurposed to honor Romania’s fallen soldiers. The park also houses the Cantacuzino Fountain, an elegant structure dating back to 1870, and the Zodiac Fountain, which was restored after the communist era. Visitors can admire the Giants’ statues, remnants of a once larger sculptural ensemble, and enjoy panoramic views from Filaret Hill. Located in southern Bucharest, Carol Park remains a cultural and recreational landmark, offering a peaceful retreat while preserving Romania’s historical legacy.

Carol Park, also known as Parcul Carol I, is located in the southern-central area of Bucharest, partly on Filaret Hill. It is near major city landmarks such as the Palace of the Parliament, which is within walking distance to the north. The park is close to Piața Eroii Revoluției metro station, providing easy access to the city center. Nearby attractions include the National Technical Museum, situated within the park, and the Roman Arena open-air theater.
