Carol Park is one of Bucharest’s most historic and picturesque green spaces, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural landmarks. Designed in 1906 by French landscape architect Édouard Redont, the park was created to celebrate Romania’s national achievements. It features lush gardens, winding pathways, and a scenic lake, making it a favorite spot for relaxation and exploration. Among its most notable monuments is the Mausoleum of the Nation’s Heroes, originally built as a communist memorial but later repurposed to honor Romania’s fallen soldiers. The park also houses the Cantacuzino Fountain, an elegant structure dating back to 1870, and the Zodiac Fountain, which was restored after the communist era. Visitors can admire the Giants’ statues, remnants of a once larger sculptural ensemble, and enjoy panoramic views from Filaret Hill.
