The National Museum of Romanian Aviation in Bucharest offers a compelling journey through the country’s aeronautical history. Established in 1990 and housed in World War II-era hangars at the former Pipera Airport, the museum showcases Romania’s aviation milestones from early pioneers like Aurel Vlaicu and Henri Coandă to Cold War-era jet technology. Its two main exhibition halls—Traian Vuia Hall and the jet aircraft hangar—feature vintage planes, flight simulators, radar systems, and anti-aircraft artillery. A recreated interwar street connects the hangars, adding historical ambiance. The open-air park displays helicopters, missiles, and radar equipment, while the museum also manages the Hermann Oberth memorial house in Mediaș, dedicated to rocket and space research.
