Haus der Natur

About

Haus der Natur in Salzburg is one of the city’s most dynamic museums, combining natural history, science, and interactive discovery across several floors. Its appeal lies in the sheer variety of themes: from deep‑sea creatures to Alpine wildlife, from human biology to cutting‑edge technology. The aquarium is a major highlight, featuring colourful reef fish, seahorses, and freshwater species that illustrate the diversity of aquatic ecosystems. Nearby, the reptile section showcases snakes, lizards, and turtles, offering close‑up views of species rarely seen in Central Europe. The museum’s space exhibition is especially popular, presenting meteorites, planetary models, and insights into the physics that shape the universe. Equally engaging is the human body gallery, where anatomical models and interactive stations explain how organs, senses, and biological systems work. Children and adults alike gravitate toward the Science Center, a hands‑on zone where experiments demonstrate principles of electricity, magnetism, motion, and sound. One of the most intriguing areas explores the natural history of the Alps, showing fossils, minerals, and dioramas that trace the region’s geological evolution. Together, these exhibits create a museum that is both educational and playful, making it one of Salzburg’s most versatile cultural attractions.
