Julianapark is one of Utrecht’s oldest and most beloved city parks, created in 1903 as a landscaped garden for the wealthy Kol family before becoming public in 1928. Its design blends open meadows, winding paths, and monumental trees, giving the park a calm, leafy character that feels far removed from the busy Amsterdamsestraatweg nearby. A defining feature is the large animal meadow, home to deer, alpacas, and rare ducks, while free‑roaming chickens have become a charming trademark of the park. Families are drawn to the spacious playground, ponds, and the relaxed picnic areas, while the Antje Drijver Pavilion offers a pleasant spot for a drink. The park’s layout reflects early 20th‑century landscape ideals, combining recreation with gentle natural beauty. Today, Julianapark remains a cherished green refuge for the surrounding neighbourhoods, a place where history, community, and everyday life come together in a peaceful urban oasis.

Julianapark is located at Julianaparklaan, 3553 HK Utrecht, in the Zuilen district north of the city centre along Amsterdamse Straatweg. This historic green oasis features a children's farm with free-roaming chickens, the Antje Drijver Pavilion café, expansive lawns for picnics, a cultural podium and playgrounds amid ancient trees. A short walk leads to Zuilen's local shops and eateries, while the Spoorwegmuseum (Railway Museum), Vecht River paths and Utrecht Centraal Station are reachable by a quick tram ride or 20-30 minute cycle from the city’s historic core with its Dom Tower and canals.
