Stadstheater Arnhem is one of the city’s central stages for performing arts, combining historical character with a modern cultural role. Originally opened in 1938, the theatre has long been a home for drama, dance, music, and major touring productions. Its architecture reflects the Delftse School style, giving the building a distinctive, monumental presence on the Velperbinnensingel. Inside, the main auditorium offers an intimate yet spacious setting with excellent acoustics, while additional halls support smaller performances, rehearsals, and creative projects. Today, the theatre continues to evolve, with ongoing plans to modernise the complex and strengthen its connection to the surrounding cultural district. Stadstheater Arnhem is located at Velperbinnensingel 10-15, 6811 BP Arnhem, in the heart of the city centre adjacent to Musis Sacrum concert hall, just a 10-minute walk northeast from Arnhem Centraal Station along the scenic canal. This modernised venue hosts theatre, musicals, and cabaret performances within the Musis & Stadstheater complex, featuring versatile halls overlooking Lauwersgrachtpark. Nearby, Musis Arnhem offers classical concerts and events next door; the Rhine riverfront with Airborne at the Bridge exhibition lies 800 metres west; and Eusebiuskerk tower rises 500 metres south amid bustling shops on Rijnstraat. Sonsbeek Park provides green trails 1 km northwest, with convenient parking at Musis garage opposite and excellent tram and bus links.
