Jens Bang’s House is one of Aalborg’s most iconic Renaissance landmarks, dominating the historic center with its richly decorated façade and bold architectural presence. Built in 1624 by the wealthy merchant Jens Bang, the five‑storey stone house was a statement of ambition and prosperity, adorned with ornate gables, sculpted details, and expressive faces that still capture attention today. For more than three centuries, it also housed the city’s oldest pharmacy, adding another layer to its long urban story. Although the interior is not generally open to the public, the building remains a highlight of Aalborg’s old town, admired for its exceptional preservation and its role as a symbol of the city’s flourishing past. Standing proudly on Østerågade, Jens Bang’s House continues to embody the spirit and confidence of Aalborg’s Renaissance era.
