Olomouc Castle (Olomoucký hrad) is located on Wenceslas Hill in the historic centre of Olomouc, on Wenceslas Square. It is one of the most important castle complexes in the Czech Republic and combines Romanesque, Gothic, and later architectural elements. The castle site itself includes major landmarks such as Saint Wenceslas Cathedral, the Bishops’ Palace, and the Archdiocesan Museum. These buildings form a large religious and cultural complex that is a national cultural monument and holds the European Heritage label. Right around the castle area you can also visit Palacký University Olomouc, the Sochy Herkulů sculptures, and the Information Center for tourists. A short walk down the hill leads to Horní náměstí, the main square, with the Holy Trinity Column, the Town Hall, and the famous Astronomical Clock. The historic centre, with its many churches, cafés, and Baroque buildings, is all within easy walking distance.
