Rotes Schloss is located on General-Guisan-Quai on the left bank of Lake Zürich, between Beethovenstrasse and Stockerstrasse, in a central and scenic part of the city. It is a historicist building with a castle-like appearance, making it stand out among Zürich’s lakeside architecture. The surroundings are excellent for sightseeing. Right nearby is the Zürich Congress House, and across the road lies the Zürich Arboretum, a pleasant green space for a walk by the lake. From here, visitors can also easily reach the lakeside promenade, Bürkliplatz, and the wider city centre, which makes Rotes Schloss a nice stop on a relaxed Zürich walking route.
