Blue Tree Gallery in York is an independent contemporary art space that has been showcasing creativity since 2009. Founded by Maria, whose vision was to create an accessible and welcoming gallery during a challenging economic climate, it has flourished into one of the city’s most distinctive cultural venues. Located on Bootham, just outside the city walls, the gallery presents an eclectic mix of original paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, and glass by both local and national artists. Its exhibitions are known for their vibrant use of colour and variety of styles, reflecting a commitment to contemporary fine art that is fresh, engaging, and often unconventional. With around six mixed shows each year, the gallery provides a platform for emerging talent alongside established names, including its artist-in-residence, Giuliana Lazzerini. Blue Tree Gallery also participates in the national Own Art scheme, making it easier for visitors to collect and enjoy original works. Today it remains a lively, independent hub for York’s art scene, combining professional curation with a warm, community-focused spirit.
