Ballhof Zwei

Ballhof Zwei
About

Ballhof Zwei is a contemporary theatre venue in Hannover’s Old Town, located at Knochenhauerstraße 28, and serves as a central stage for the Junge Oper and Junge Schauspiel Hannover. Built in 1990 by architect Thilo Mucke, the polygonal structure was originally conceived as a rehearsal space but quickly evolved into a fully-fledged performance venue. With seating for approximately 126 guests, Ballhof Zwei offers an intimate setting for modern theatre and opera productions, often featuring young talent and experimental formats. It complements the historic Ballhof Eins next door, forming a dynamic cultural duo within the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater Hannover. The venue also hosts youth theatre clubs, workshops, and interdisciplinary projects, fostering creative engagement among children and teens. Its minimalist architecture and flexible interior make it ideal for immersive performances and innovative staging. Ballhof Zwei continues to be a vital platform for emerging voices and contemporary narratives in Hanover’s performing arts scene.
