Stretching nearly 100 meters with vast storage halls, it was vital for sustaining the garrison and symbolized the strategic importance of Mainz as a western bulwark against France. Today, the Proviant‑Magazin has been transformed into a cultural and social venue, housing restaurants, the Fastnachtsmuseum, and the German Cabaret Archive.
