Stadtpark Mainz is a lush urban oasis steeped in history, offering a blend of Baroque elegance and English landscape charm. Originally the site of the Favorite Palace, a summer residence of the Electors of Mainz, the area was transformed into a public park in the 19th century after the palace’s destruction during the 1793 siege. Landscape architect Peter Wolf redesigned the grounds between 1819 and 1825, and later enhancements in 1888 gave the park its current form. Today, Stadtpark features expansive lawns, winding paths, and themed gardens including a rose collection with over 5,000 varieties. Visitors can enjoy flamingo ponds, aviaries, and shaded pergolas, making it a favorite spot for relaxation and recreation. The park also holds historical significance as the site of the 1803 execution of Schinderhannes and his gang. With its rich botanical diversity and layered past, Stadtpark remains one of Mainz’s most cherished green spaces.

Stadtpark Mainz is situated along the southern banks of the Rhine at Berliner Straße, 55131 Mainz, nestled between the Old Town and the district of Weisenau, making it one of the city's largest and most scenic green spaces. The park features expansive lawns, hundreds of tree species, flower beds, fountains, a rose garden with thousands of roses, and winding paths perfect for leisure walks or cycling. Key highlights include a picturesque pond, a mini-zoo with flamingos, the Rhenus and Hercules statues, and direct access to the interconnected Volkspark. Nearby attractions are the Rhine promenade, Mainz Wine Market in late August and September, as well as restaurants, family playgrounds, and annual festivals, ensuring visitors enjoy a tranquil retreat close to the vibrant riverside and city events.​
