Nieuwe Luxor Theater is one of Rotterdam’s most recognisable cultural landmarks, standing proudly on the Kop van Zuid with its bold red façade and glowing LUXOR letters. Opened in 2001, the theatre was designed to host large‑scale productions, offering a spacious auditorium with more than 1,500 seats and state‑of‑the‑art technical facilities. Its programme spans musicals, cabaret, concerts, opera, and dance, making it a vibrant hub for both Dutch and international performers. The building’s riverside location near the Erasmus Bridge adds to its appeal, with panoramic views and easy access by metro and tram. Before or after a show, visitors can enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of Café Dox overlooking the Rijnhaven. As a modern successor to the historic Oude Luxor, the Nieuwe Luxor Theater continues to play a central role in Rotterdam’s dynamic performing arts scene.

Nieuwe Luxor Theater is located at Posthumalaan 1, 3072 AG Rotterdam, on the south bank of the Nieuwe Maas river in the vibrant Kop van Zuid district. Positioned right at the southern foot of the iconic Erasmusbrug bridge, it offers stunning waterfront views and is easily reachable by tram, metro at Wilhelminaplein station, or a short drive with nearby parking. Nearby attractions include the architectural marvels of De Rotterdam tower and KPN Telecom Building, the Wilhelminapier promenade with its modern sculptures and hotels, the trendy Rijnhaven area with restaurants and bars, and cultural spots like the Floating Pavilion, all within a 10-minute walk.
