Het Park in Rotterdam is one of the city’s most historic and beloved green spaces, unfolding beside the Euromast in the elegant Scheepvaartkwartier district. Designed in 1852 by the renowned landscape architects J.D. Zocher and his son, it reflects the charm of the English landscape style with winding paths, broad lawns, and tranquil ponds. Once formed from old country estates, the park still preserves traces of its past, including stately buildings like Het Heerenhuys and the Orangerie. Today it offers a peaceful escape where visitors picnic under ancient trees, watch herons by the water, or enjoy cultural events throughout the year. Its blend of heritage, natural beauty, and lively atmosphere makes Het Park a timeless retreat in the heart of Rotterdam.

Location

Het Park is located in the Scheepvaartkwartier district of Rotterdam, between Westzeedijk, Parkkade and the banks of the River Maas, just west of the city centre. It sits directly beside the Euromast observation tower, which towers over the park and is reachable by a short walk across Parkhaven. From here, visitors can easily walk to the historic Veerhaven marina and the Erasmus Bridge along the riverfront, or head a few minutes inland to Museumpark with major institutions such as Kunsthal Rotterdam and other museums. Within and around the park you will also find several restaurants, Café Parqiet, the Norwegian Seamen’s Church, ponds, statues and scenic walking paths that connect the green space with the surrounding waterfront neighbourhood.
