Theater Walhalla is one of Rotterdam’s most charming cultural gems, a small but spirited venue located on Katendrecht’s historic Deliplein. Known for its intimate atmosphere and nostalgic character, it offers an old‑fashioned theatre feeling that immediately draws audiences in. With just around 80 seats, every performance feels close, personal, and full of warmth. Its programme is remarkably diverse, featuring cabaret, music, theatre, children’s shows, and talk events, with more than 275 performances each year. Across the square, its sister venue Kantine Walhalla provides a slightly larger space while preserving the same welcoming spirit. Named after the legendary pre‑war dance hall Dancing Walhalla, the theatre keeps the neighbourhood’s lively harbour heritage alive through storytelling, humour, and community‑driven creativity.

Theater Walhalla is located at Sumatraweg 9-11, 3072 ZP Rotterdam, in the vibrant Katendrecht neighbourhood on the south side of the Nieuwe Maas river. Housed in a former dance hall, this intimate 80-seat venue is easily accessible by tram via Lodewijk Pincoffsweg stop, metro at Rijnhaven station, or a short walk from the Deliplein ferry terminal. Nearby you'll find its sister venue Kantine Walhalla at Veerlaan 11 just across the street, the bustling Deliplein square with cafes and restaurants, Hotel New York, Rijnhaven harbour views, and trendy spots like café De Matroos en het Meisje, all in the redeveloped Katendrecht district known for its artistic vibe and waterfront walks.
