Paradijskerk is one of Rotterdam’s most distinctive historic churches, standing proudly on the Nieuwe Binnenweg as a rare example of early twentieth‑century neobaroque architecture. Built between 1908 and 1910 by architect Petrus Augustinus Weeldenburg, it was designed to house the richly decorated eighteenth‑century interior of an earlier schuilkerk, which had become too fragile to use. As a result, the church preserves an exceptional baroque ensemble of altars, woodcarvings, and liturgical furnishings that survived the 1940 bombing thanks to its location outside the devastated city centre. Its twin towers, rising 41 metres high, give the building a striking presence in the Oude Westen district. Today, Paradijskerk remains an active Old Catholic parish and a protected national monument, valued for its serene atmosphere, unique heritage, and enduring connection to Rotterdam’s religious history.

This neo-Baroque Old Catholic church with striking twin towers is easily reached by tram lines 4 and 8 at the Pannenkoekstraat stop or a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station.
