Erasmusbrug is Rotterdam’s most iconic modern landmark, a sweeping cable‑stayed bridge that links the city centre with the vibrant Kop van Zuid. Designed by architect Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996, the bridge is instantly recognisable for its elegant 139‑metre asymmetrical pylon, which earned it the nickname “The Swan.” Stretching 802 metres across the Nieuwe Maas, it combines striking aesthetics with vital urban function, carrying trams, cars, cyclists, and pedestrians between the city’s northern and southern districts. By day, its clean white lines stand out against the skyline; by night, the illuminated cables create one of Rotterdam’s most photographed views. More than just infrastructure, the Erasmusbrug symbolises the city’s forward‑looking spirit and often serves as a dramatic backdrop for festivals, sporting events, and celebrations along the river.

Erasmusbrug spans the Nieuwe Maas river at Erasmusbrug 1, 3011 BN Rotterdam, connecting the city centre (Noord) to the Kop van Zuid district on the southern bank. Nicknamed "The Swan" for its elegant asymmetrical cable-stayed design completed in 1996, it serves pedestrians, cyclists, trams, cars and offers panoramic city views, with nearby metro stops at Leuvehaven and Wilhelminaplein just 6-8 minutes away. Nearby attractions include Nieuwe Luxor Theater, De Rotterdam skyscraper, Wilhelminapier waterfront promenade with sculptures and hotels, Nederlands Fotomuseum, Wereldmuseum, and the vibrant Kop van Zuid area featuring restaurants, modern apartments and harbour walks.
