Oulunsalo Museum of Local History
Oulunsalo Museum of Local History and Culture is a small summer museum that preserves the everyday heritage of the former rural community of Oulunsalo. Located on Jääsköntie near the old church, it occupies historic farm buildings that remain largely in their original places, creating an authentic village‑like setting. The museum showcases objects from the late 1800s and early 1900s, including household items, farming tools and fishing equipment that reflect the area’s traditional livelihoods. Visitors can also see distinctive local features such as the “kilpukkas” plank‑lined living room of the Kukkonen estate, linked to the region’s sawmill history. Open mainly in July, the museum offers guided visits and seasonal events that bring local traditions to life, providing a quiet and atmospheric glimpse into Oulunsalo’s past.
