Oulujoki Church is a distinctive wooden Art Nouveau church completed in 1908 in the Kirkkokangas district of Oulu. Designed by architect Viktor J. Sucksdorff, it reflects the national‑romantic spirit of the early 20th century and is noted as the only preserved wooden Jugend‑style church in Northern Finland. Its steep rooflines and tall bell tower draw the eye upward, and an inscription on the tower’s second clock offers a blessing for the Finnish people. The church was modernised in the mid‑20th century but later restored in the 1980s to its original appearance, returning its characteristic details and atmosphere. Surrounded by forested landscapes near the Oulujoki River, it remains an active Lutheran parish church and a serene stop along the Oulujoki Pilgrimage route, appreciated for both its beauty and its cultural significance.
