Höchster Schloss in Frankfurt am Main is a remarkable ensemble of medieval and Renaissance architecture that reflects centuries of regional history. Situated in the historic district of Höchst along the Main River, the castle complex consists of the Altes Schloss (Old Castle), dating back to the 14th century, and the Neues Schloss (New Castle), built between 1586 and 1608 as a residence for the officials of the Archbishop of Mainz. The Old Castle preserves its Gothic tower and remnants of the former customs fortress, while the Renaissance wing adds elegance with its arcades and decorative façades. Over the centuries, the castle has served as a defensive stronghold, an administrative seat, and later as a cultural venue. Today, it is owned by the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz and hosts exhibitions, concerts, and the annual Höchster Schlossfest, which fills the courtyards with music, theatre, and local traditions. Höchster Schloss, also known as Höchst Castle, is located at Höchster Schloßplatz 16 in the historic district of Höchst, Frankfurt am Main. The castle complex includes elements dating from the 14th to the 16th century, blending medieval and Renaissance architectural styles. It stands as a cultural hub hosting the annual Höchst Castle Festival, one of Frankfurt’s largest summer events, and contains museums dedicated to local district history and the Höchst AG chemical and pharmaceutical company's heritage. Nearby are the picturesque Höchst old town with its timber-framed houses, the Main River promenade offering scenic walking routes, the Saint Justin’s Church, and Höchst Market Hall. The castle is easily accessible by S-Bahn (lines S1 and S2) via Frankfurt-Höchst station, connecting it well to central Frankfurt and surrounding areas, making it a favored historic and cultural destination for visitors.​
