Bolongaro Palace in Frankfurt-Höchst is the largest private residence ever built in the city during the 18th century and remains one of its most impressive baroque landmarks. Constructed between 1772 and 1780 by the Bolongaro brothers, wealthy tobacco merchants originally from Italy, the palace reflects both their prosperity and the cosmopolitan spirit of the era. Its horseshoe-shaped layout opens toward the Main River, where the adjoining Bolongaro Garden descends in terraces adorned with fountains, balustrades, and sandstone sculptures. The palace interiors once displayed fine porcelain and richly decorated halls, and today the building houses administrative offices and serves as a venue for cultural events, weddings, and exhibitions. The garden, with its Neptune fountain and shell grotto, is the only surviving baroque garden of its kind in Frankfurt and offers a tranquil retreat just steps from the historic Höchst old town. Together, the palace and garden embody the grandeur of late baroque architecture while remaining a living part of the community, linking Frankfurt’s mercantile past with its cultural present.

Bolongaro Palace, known as Bolongaropalast, is located in Frankfurt am Main’s historic Höchst district, at Bolongarostraße 111. This elegant baroque palace was built in the late 18th century by the Bolongaro brothers, renowned tobacco merchants, and features a grand facade visible from the Main River. The palace is surrounded by the beautifully restored Bolongaro Garden, which is the only surviving baroque garden in Frankfurt, decorated with sandstone figures, balustrades, and fountains including a shell grotto and dragon fountain. Nearby is the confluence of the Main and Nidda rivers, offering tranquil riverside walks, as well as the vibrant old town of Höchst with timber-framed houses, local restaurants, and cultural venues. The palace now serves as a government office and event location, perfectly blending historic charm with riverside leisure.​
