The Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, opened in 1986, is a prominent exhibition hall located in the historic city center of Frankfurt am Main between the Römer and the Frankfurt Cathedral. Designed by the architectural firm BJSS (Dietrich Bangert, Bernd Jansen, Stefan Jan Scholz, and Axel Schultes), its striking design features a long, narrow building over 150 meters in length with a sandstone façade and a distinctive sky-domed rotunda serving as the main entrance. The Schirn is renowned for hosting major temporary exhibitions encompassing modern and contemporary art, with past shows featuring artists like Kandinsky, Chagall, and Giacometti. It functions as a dynamic cultural venue emphasizing accessibility and innovation, with a recent interior redesign enhancing its public spaces.
