The Jan Kasprowicz Museum in Zakopane is located in Villa Harenda, the poet’s beloved home overlooking the Tatra Mountains. Built in 1920 as a guesthouse and later purchased by Kasprowicz, the wooden villa reflects the simplicity of a traditional highlander dwelling while preserving the intimate atmosphere of the writer’s final years. Inside, visitors can explore the dining room, salon, and bedroom, all maintained exactly as they were left by his wife Maria. The rooms contain original furniture, books, photographs, paintings, and personal mementos that illustrate Kasprowicz’s life, his literary achievements, and his close ties to the artistic circles of Young Poland. Particularly striking are pastel portraits by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz and sculptures depicting the poet. The museum grounds also include a granite mausoleum where Kasprowicz and his wife are buried, adding a quiet, reflective dimension to this culturally significant site.
