The Church of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist in Zakopane is a small yet architecturally striking wooden church located in the Harenda district, close to the former home of poet Jan Kasprowicz. Built in the early 20th century, it reflects the traditional Podhale style with its shingled roof, carved details, and warm timber interior that blends harmoniously with the surrounding mountain landscape. The church was originally constructed in Zakopane’s centre but was later moved to Harenda, where it gained new significance as the parish church for the local community. Inside, visitors find a peaceful, intimate atmosphere enriched by folk‑inspired ornamentation and a beautifully crafted main altar. Its setting near Villa Harenda and the Kasprowicz Mausoleum creates a meaningful cultural ensemble, linking spiritual heritage with the artistic legacy of the region. The Church of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist in Zakopane is located at ul. Harenda 14a, in the Harenda district above the main town centre. It stands near the Jan Kasprowicz Museum‑Harenda and the mausoleum of the poet, within easy reach of scenic walking paths toward the Tatra foothills, local restaurants and guesthouses in Harenda, as well as the main Zakopane centre and the Krupówki promenade slightly further downhill.
