Britzer Garten in Berlin’s Neukölln district is a lush, landscaped park created for the 1985 Federal Garden Show. Spanning 90 hectares, it offers a harmonious blend of nature, art, and recreation. Designed by landscape architect Wolfgang Miller, the park features themed gardens—including the Rose Garden, Geological Garden, and Hexengarten—alongside lakes, meadows, and flower groves. Architectural highlights include Europe’s largest sundial and the Café am See, built using earthwork techniques. The Britzer Mühle, a functioning historic windmill, and the Britzer Museumsbahn miniature railway add charm and heritage. Britzer Garten is a vibrant, expansive park located in the southern Berlin district of Neukölln at Sangerhauser Weg 1, 12349 Berlin. Established for the Federal Garden Show in 1985, it covers around 90 hectares and features beautifully landscaped lakes, themed gardens like the renowned rose garden, herb and witch gardens, a geological garden, and large playgrounds. The park also includes a large animal enclosure with sheep, goats, donkeys, and ducks—a highlight for families—plus a permanent nature exhibition and Europe’s largest sundial at Kalenderplatz. Britzer Garten is easily reached by several entrances, with Sangerhauser Weg, Tauernallee, and Mohriner Allee among the most popular access points, and public transport links via U-Bahn Alt-Mariendorf and buses. Nearby, you’ll find the historic Britzer Mühle windmill, a charming remnant of Berlin’s rural past, still operating and open for visits on select days. The districts surrounding the park—Neukölln and Britz—offer cozy cafés and local restaurants, creating a welcoming atmosphere for a full day of exploration and relaxation.
