Dead Chicken Alley (German: Tote Hühner Gasse) is a small but storied alleyway in Berlin's edgy Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. Known today for its vibrant street art and underground culture, the alley has become an unexpected symbol of the city’s rebellious, creative spirit. It sits near the famed Hackescher Markt, tucked between more polished urban spaces, but its raw and gritty energy marks it as something entirely different. Originally a nondescript passageway, Dead Chicken Alley gained its name from an early group of squatters and artists in the 1990s who used it as an informal gallery and hangout.
