The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin stands as a poignant symbol of peace and reconciliation. Originally built in the 1890s and named after Emperor Wilhelm I, the church was heavily damaged during a bombing raid in 1943. Instead of being fully restored, its ruined spire was preserved as a memorial to the destruction of war. Next to the remnants of the old church, a striking modern chapel and bell tower were added in the 1960s, creating a powerful contrast between past and present. Known locally as the "Hollow Tooth," the church has become one of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks. Inside the preserved ruins, visitors can view mosaics, historical photographs, and a memorial hall dedicated to peace. The new church building is especially notable for its striking blue stained-glass windows, which bathe the interior in a calming light.
