Saint Foillan Church, known locally as Saint‑Pholien, is a prominent parish church in the Outremeuse district of Liège, standing at the eastern end of Boulevard de la Constitution. Its origins date back to 1189, when the first church was built on the site, though the current structure is the fourth to occupy the location, completed in 1914. Designed by architect Edmond Jamar, the present building adopts a Neo‑Gothic style, characterised by its tall pointed windows, slender vertical lines, and a façade that reflects the revivalist enthusiasm of the early 20th century. Dedicated to Saint Foillan, an Irish missionary monk whose legacy remains strong in Belgium, the church continues to serve as an active Roman Catholic parish. The Church of Saint Foillan (Église Saint‑Pholien) is located in the Outremeuse district of Liège at Rue Saint‑Pholien 9, 4020 Liège, on the eastern side of the city along the Meuse riverfront. The church sits in the heart of the traditional Outremeuse neighbourhood, close to the boulevard de la Constitution and the Quartier Saint‑Gilles area, within easy walking distance of the Parc de la Citadelle, the Théâtre de Liège on Place du Vingt Août and the Boulevard de la Sauvenière promenade.
