Visitors reach it by climbing through wooded paths or ascending the hillside from Parc Saint‑Léonard, where the route winds upward before opening onto a raised triangular platform overlooking the city. From this vantage point, the entire urban landscape unfolds—rooftops, bridges, church towers, and the river threading through Liège’s dense fabric—making it a favourite stop for walkers and photographers alike. The viewpoint is especially admired for its peaceful atmosphere and dramatic sunsets, when the sky glows above the hills and the city lights begin to shimmer. Belvédère de Liège is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the city from the hillside above the historic centre, reached by climbing up from the Montagne de Bueren area near the old Hors-Château quarter. Set on a quiet terrace above the rooftops, it offers sweeping views of the Meuse River, the citadel slopes and the church towers and spires that define Liège’s skyline. Nearby, visitors can explore the steep stairways and narrow streets around Montagne de Bueren, wander down to Place Saint-Lambert and the bustling shopping streets, or continue along the ridge paths towards the green spaces of the Citadel parklands. Cafes, bars and restaurants in the lower town are within an easy walk, making the belvedere an attractive stop during an evening stroll to watch the sunset over the city.
