The Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków offers a powerful and contemporary reflection on the Jewish heritage of Galicia, a region once home to a vibrant and diverse Jewish community. Located in the heart of Kazimierz, the former Jewish district, the museum presents a moving photographic exhibition that documents the traces of Jewish life, culture, and memory across southern Poland. Rather than focusing solely on loss, the museum highlights resilience, renewal, and the enduring presence of Jewish history in the landscape. Its modern, minimalist design creates a contemplative atmosphere where images, testimonies, and curated objects speak with clarity and emotional depth. Temporary exhibitions and educational programs further explore themes of identity, remembrance, and dialogue. The Galicia Jewish Museum stands as a thoughtful and engaging space that encourages visitors to reflect on the past while recognising the importance of preserving cultural memory for future generations.
Krakow PolandThe Galicia Jewish Museum is located in Kraków’s historic Jewish district of Kazimierz at 18 Dajwór Street, a short walk south of the Old Town and close to the Vistula River boulevards. It sits in the heart of Kazimierz, just around the corner from Szeroka Street with the Old Synagogue and Remuh Synagogue and Cemetery, and near numerous cafés, restaurants, and bars that line the surrounding streets. Within a few minutes on foot you can also reach Plac Nowy with its food stalls and nightlife, several other synagogues and Jewish cultural centres, as well as tram stops offering easy access to Wawel Castle, the Main Market Square, and the former ghetto area around Plac Bohaterów Getta across the river.
