Kraków Zoo, set within the lush Wolski Forest, offers a peaceful escape where visitors can encounter wildlife from around the world. Established in 1929, it has grown into a modern zoological park known for its commitment to conservation and animal welfare. The zoo is home to more than 1,400 animals representing over 270 species, including rare and endangered ones such as the snow leopard, maned wolf, and Przewalski’s horse. Thoughtfully designed enclosures blend with the surrounding woodland, creating a natural atmosphere that enhances the experience. Families appreciate the educational programs, feeding demonstrations, and the popular giraffe and penguin exhibits. Kraków Zoo is located at Aleja Kasy Oszczędności Miasta Krakowa 14, in the Wolski Forest on the western edge of Kraków, around 10 km from the historic city centre. It lies within the scenic Bielańsko‑Tyniecki Landscape Park, a protected natural area known for its woodland walking paths and viewpoints. Nearby you can visit Kościuszko Mound and Piłsudski’s Mound, both popular hilltop landmarks offering panoramic views of the city, as well as the historic Stare Miasto (Old Town) with Main Market Square, Wawel Royal Castle and Wawel Cathedral a short drive or bus ride away.
