Florian Gate is one of Kraków’s most iconic medieval landmarks, standing as the last surviving tower of the city’s original defensive walls. Built in the 14th century, it once formed the main northern entrance to the Old Town and played a crucial role in protecting the royal route leading to Wawel Castle. Its tall stone structure, crowned with a Baroque helmet added in the 17th century, creates a striking silhouette that has become a symbol of the city’s historic resilience. Florian Gate is located at the northern end of Floriańska Street in Kraków’s Old Town (Stare Miasto), southern Poland, marking the main medieval entrance to the historic city center and adjacent to the Planty Park ring. Nearby, the Kraków Barbican stands just outside the gate, with St. Florian's Church, Museum of Photography, Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, Ulica Florianska leading to Main Market Square and St. Mary's Basilica, all within a few minutes' walk.
