Uphagen House is one of Gdańsk’s most remarkable historic townhouses, offering a rare glimpse into the life of a wealthy merchant family in the 18th century. Located on the elegant Długa Street, it is one of the few burgher homes in Europe open to the public as a museum. Carefully restored after the Second World War, the interior reflects the refined tastes of its former owners, with richly decorated rooms, ornate stucco, and beautifully crafted furniture. Visitors can explore the dining room, study, and private chambers, each arranged to evoke the atmosphere of everyday life in the city’s prosperous past. The house reveals how Gdańsk’s merchants balanced comfort, status, and practicality within their urban residences.
