Neptune’s Fountain is one of Gdańsk’s most iconic symbols, standing proudly on the Long Market as a testament to the city’s maritime heritage and artistic splendour. Created in the 17th century by Flemish sculptor Abraham van den Blocke, the bronze figure of Neptune embodies Gdańsk’s historic connection to the sea and its role as a major Baltic trading hub. The fountain’s elegant Mannerist design, with its sculpted basin and ornate details, adds a sense of grandeur to the surrounding architecture of the Main Town. Over the centuries, the fountain has witnessed royal visits, merchant celebrations, and the everyday life of the bustling marketplace. Damaged during the Second World War, it was carefully restored and returned to its place as a beloved landmark. Today, Neptune’s Fountain remains a favourite meeting point and photo spot, capturing the spirit of Gdańsk with its blend of mythology, craftsmanship, and timeless charm.

Neptune’s Fountain is located in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town at Długi Targ, directly in front of the Artus Court and adjacent to the Main Town Hall on the main market square. Nearby, you can easily reach the Town Hall, Green Gate, Długi Targ street with its historic tenements, St. Mary’s Church, the Long Market arc of the Royal Route, and the Motława River embankment, making it a central point for exploring the city’s historic core and waterfront.
