Museum of the Second World War

About

The Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk is one of Poland’s most powerful and thought‑provoking cultural institutions, exploring the global impact of the conflict from both military and civilian perspectives. Its striking, angular building rises dramatically near the historic shipyard, symbolising a world torn apart and rebuilt. Inside, an extensive permanent exhibition leads visitors through immersive reconstructions, personal testimonies, photographs, and artefacts that reveal the human cost of war. The museum places strong emphasis on everyday experiences, showing how ordinary people across Europe and beyond endured occupation, resistance, and loss. Modern multimedia installations deepen the emotional and historical narrative, making the visit both educational and deeply moving. As a major centre for remembrance and reflection, the Museum of the Second World War stands as a vital reminder of the past and a call to protect peace in the present.
