Gdańsk Zoo, set within the forested hills of the Oliwa district, is one of Poland’s largest and most atmospheric zoological gardens. Its spacious, natural enclosures create a sense of immersion, allowing visitors to wander through landscapes that feel far removed from the city. The zoo is home to more than a thousand animals, including lions, giraffes, orangutans, snow leopards, and the rare pygmy hippopotamus, making it a place where global biodiversity comes vividly to life. Families can explore winding paths shaded by old-growth trees, while animal lovers can observe species conservation efforts up close. Gdańsk Zoo is located at ul. Karwieńska 3 in the Oliwa district of Gdańsk, Poland, within a large green area bordering the Tri‑City Landscape Park and the Oliwa Forest. Nearby, you can also visit Oliwa Park, Oliwa Cathedral, the Pachołek Hill observation deck, the Monument to the Battle of Oliwa, and several other green spaces and historic sites in the Oliwa neighborhood, making it easy to combine a zoo visit with a walk through parkland and local landmarks.
