Teatr Stary is one of Lublin’s most atmospheric cultural landmarks, a beautifully restored 19th‑century theatre that has witnessed two centuries of the city’s artistic life. Built in 1822, it originally hosted drama and opera before later becoming one of Lublin’s earliest cinemas. After decades of decline, the building was meticulously renovated and reopened in 2012, preserving its classical façade, intimate “bonbonnière” auditorium, and historic layout. Today it operates as an impresario theatre, presenting guest performances, concerts, film screenings, debates, and educational events in a refined, boutique setting. Its location in the heart of the Old Town and its carefully conserved interiors make Teatr Stary both a vibrant cultural venue and a rare architectural treasure, offering visitors a unique blend of history, artistry, and contemporary creativity.
