The Neckarbrücke in Bad Cannstatt is a striking modern railway bridge that spans the Neckar River, linking Stuttgart’s main station with the Bad Cannstatt district. Constructed as part of the Stuttgart 21 infrastructure project, the bridge replaces the older Rosenstein Bridge and plays a vital role in the city’s evolving rail network. Completed in phases beginning in 2017, the structure features a sleek composite steel design with distinctive “steel sails” that reduce material use while enhancing visual appeal. It stretches approximately 345 meters and accommodates both long-distance and S-Bahn trains, improving connectivity across the region. A separate pedestrian and cyclist path was opened in 2021, offering scenic views of the river and surrounding parks. The bridge’s engineering reflects Stuttgart’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and architectural innovation, blending functionality with aesthetic refinement.

The new bridge, part of the Stuttgart 21 rail project, is a striking steel and concrete structure supporting both railway traffic and a pedestrian and cycle path known as the Neckarsteg. Its modern design, featuring elegant steel sails, makes it a key visual accent in the area. Located near Rosensteinpark and the Wilhelma Zoo and Botanical Garden, the bridge offers scenic views of the river and access to green spaces and walking routes along the Neckar. It also lies close to the Rosenstein Tunnel and the expanding Rosenstein Quarter, forming a vital link between old and new Stuttgart.​
