Renitenztheater Stuttgart is the city’s oldest cabaret stage, renowned for its bold satire, diverse programming, and intimate atmosphere. Founded in 1961 by Gerhard Woyda, the theater has become a leading venue for German-language cabaret, comedy, chanson, and political theater. Located in the Hospitalviertel district, the modern venue features 250 comfortable seats, advanced lighting and sound systems, and a stylish foyer with a bar and adjoining Italian restaurant. Renitenztheater hosts around 350 events annually, including guest performances by top artists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as emerging talents. Signature events include the Stuttgarter Besen cabaret competition, the ChanSongFest, and the Deutsch-Türkische Kabarettwoche, reflecting the theater’s commitment to cultural dialogue and artistic innovation. Its own satirical productions add a local voice to national debates, making it a vital platform for free expression and creative resistance. With its mix of tradition and contemporary flair, Renitenztheater remains a cornerstone of Stuttgart’s performing arts scene.
