Located in the historic Art Nouveau building of the former Stuttgart slaughterhouse, the museum showcases over 50,000 pig-themed exhibits across 25 themed rooms. Visitors can explore the pig’s role in zoology, mythology, art, and culture, from ancient symbolism to modern-day piggy banks. Highlights include the “Ancestral Gallery” of pig breeds, interactive displays, and a library filled with pig-related literature. Founded by Erika Wilhelmer, the museum blends humor and insight, making it a unique destination in southern Germany’s cultural landscape. The Pig Museum (SchweineMuseum) in Stuttgart is located at Talstraße 70, 70188 Stuttgart, within the former administrative building of the city’s old slaughterhouse, a Jugendstil structure dating from 1909. It lies in the Schlachthof district, just east of the city center, accessible via the U9 Stadtbahn line or the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, both stopping at Schlachthof station a few minutes’ walk away. Surrounded by historic industrial architecture, the museum sits close to Gaskessel Stuttgart and City Chapel Stuttgart, with the Mercedes-Benz Museum just across the Neckar River. Onsite, visitors find a large beer garden and restaurant serving traditional Swabian dishes in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. The area also offers parking and easy access to the scenic Neckar riverside paths for a pleasant stroll after the visit.​
