The Weissenhofmuseum im Haus Le Corbusier in Stuttgart is a landmark of modern architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering insight into one of the most influential housing projects of the 20th century. The museum is located in a semi-detached house designed in 1927 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for the Deutscher Werkbund exhibition Die Wohnung (“The Dwelling”). This exhibition brought together 17 pioneering architects, including Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius, to present radical new ideas for modern living. The Weissenhof Estate, built in just four months, became a manifesto of the International Style, with its flat roofs, cubic forms, and open floor plans. Since 2006, the Le Corbusier house has been home to the museum, the only building in the estate open to the public. Visitors can explore both halves of the house: one side documents the history of the Weissenhofsiedlung and its architects, while the other presents the restored interiors as Le Corbusier originally envisioned them.
