Wilhelma Stuttgart is Germany’s only combined zoological and botanical garden, offering a unique blend of nature, architecture, and education. Located in the Bad Cannstatt district, Wilhelma was originally built in the mid-19th century as a Moorish-style royal bathhouse for King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. Its ornate pavilions and gardens evoke the romantic flair of “1001 Nights.” After the monarchy ended, the site opened to the public as a botanical garden, and in 1951, it expanded into a zoo. Today, Wilhelma hosts over 11,000 animals from 1,200 species and 8,500 plant varieties, making it one of the most species-rich institutions in Europe. Highlights include the historic greenhouse, magnolia grove, ape house, and the Elephant World exhibit. The park’s layout encourages exploration, with themed zones and educational programs for all ages. Open year-round, Wilhelma remains a beloved destination for families, tourists, and researchers, combining royal heritage with ecological diversity in a lush, immersive setting.

Wilhelma Stuttgart is located at Wilhelma 13, 70376 Stuttgart, in the Bad Cannstatt district. This unique zoological-botanical garden combines a historic Moorish palace setting with one of Europe's most diverse collections of plants and animals, making it both a major cultural and natural attraction. The main entrance is on Neckartalstraße, easily accessible by public transport with streetcar lines U13, U14, and U16 stopping directly at "Wilhelma". Nearby is the scenic Rosensteinpark, which offers additional walking trails and green spaces, as well as the Rosenstein Castle, enriching the visitor experience with further historic and recreational opportunities. Parking facilities are available, and the location is well connected to Stuttgart's city center and train station, making Wilhelma a popular destination for families, nature lovers, and tourists.​
