The Municipal Gallery of Prague, known as GHMP, is a leading institution for modern and contemporary art, showcasing Czech creativity across multiple historic venues. Its central exhibition space is located in the Municipal Library on Mariánské Square, a functionalist building from the 1920s. Additional galleries are hosted in several architecturally significant sites: the House at the Stone Bell and the House at the Golden Ring in Old Town, the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace near Charles Bridge, the Old Town Hall, and the House of Photography on Revoluční Street. Beyond the city center, GHMP operates the Troja Chateau, a Baroque masterpiece with landscaped gardens, and Villa Bílek in Hradčany, the former home and studio of Art Nouveau sculptor František Bílek. It also manages Bílek’s House in Chýnov, South Bohemia. Each location offers a unique curatorial focus, from avant-garde installations to historical retrospectives, making GHMP a dynamic network of cultural spaces that reflect Prague’s artistic legacy and evolving creative spirit.

The Municipal Gallery of Prague, also known as Prague City Gallery (GHMP), is one of the city’s leading institutions for modern and contemporary art, uniquely spread across several historic buildings in Prague’s center. Its main exhibition space is located on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Library at Mariánské náměstí 98/1, in the heart of the Old Town. This grand building, designed by architect František Roith and completed in 1928, was conceived as a cultural hub and now hosts major exhibitions, lectures, and events. The gallery entrance is accessible via Mariánské Square or directly from Valentinská Street, offering barrier-free access and modern amenities. Beyond the Municipal Library, the gallery operates in several other remarkable venues: the Gothic Stone Bell House and the Baroque Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, both near Old Town Square; the House at the Golden Ring; the House of Photography; the striking Troja Château with its French gardens; and Villa Bílek in Hradčany. Each location enriches the gallery’s offerings with its own architectural and historical character, and together they form a network of cultural spaces across Prague. Surrounding the Municipal Library, visitors will find the Old Town Hall with its famous Astronomical Clock, the Klementinum complex, the Baroque Clam Gallas Palace, and the lively Old Town Square, all within easy walking distance.
