The National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror, located in the crypt of the Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, is a deeply moving tribute to the Czech resistance fighters involved in Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich. Within the memorial, you can witness the bullet-riddled walls of the crypt, a stark reminder of the paratroopers' final stand against overwhelming Nazi forces. The exhibition provides a comprehensive account of Operation Anthropoid, detailing the planning, execution, and the brutal Nazi reprisals that followed, including the razing of Lidice. You'll find photographs, documents, and artifacts that shed light on the events leading up to and following the assassination, as well as the personal stories of the brave individuals who aided the paratroopers, often at great personal risk. The memorial also honors the local citizens who supported the resistance.
