Housed in a repurposed glass factory in Prague’s Smíchov district, MeetFactory is a multidisciplinary center for contemporary art founded by Czech sculptor David Černý. Nestled between a railway line and an elevated road, the venue embraces its industrial roots while offering a vibrant space for visual arts, music, theater, and artist residencies. Since its reopening in 2007, MeetFactory has hosted exhibitions in three galleries—MeetFactory Gallery, Kostka Gallery, and Wall Gallery—each showcasing Czech and international talent. The music hall and theater stage present independent concerts and experimental performances, often exploring social and political themes. A standout feature is the artists-in-residence program, which brings creators from around the world to live and work on-site, fostering cross-cultural exchange and public engagement through monthly Open Studios. With its raw aesthetic and boundary-pushing programming, MeetFactory is a creative incubator where art is not just displayed but actively made, debated, and lived.
Prague Czech RepublicMeetFactory is located at Ke Sklárně 3213/15, in Prague 5’s Smíchov district, set in a repurposed industrial building between a railway line and the city’s ring road. Founded by renowned artist David Černý, this international center for contemporary art brings together visual arts, theatre, music, and an artist-in-residence program, making it a vibrant hub for creative experimentation and cultural exchange. The building itself is easily recognizable by the two red cars by Černý hanging from its facade, and it houses three exhibition spaces—Galerie MeetFactory, Galerie Kostka, and Galerie Zed’—as well as a bar and the Beauty Free Shop, where visitors can purchase unique artworks. MeetFactory is close to Smíchov Railway Station and is best accessed via the Lihovar tram stop, just a few minutes’ walk away, connecting you quickly to the city center. The surrounding Smíchov area is known for its lively nightlife, modern shopping centers, and the scenic banks of the Vltava River, offering plenty of options for dining and entertainment before or after your visit.
