Clara-Zetkin-Park
Created in 1955 by merging several historic parks, including Johannapark, Palmengarten, Volkspark Scheibenholz, and Albertpark, it was named after the politician and women’s rights activist Clara Zetkin. Today, the park stretches across more than 100 hectares, offering a harmonious blend of open lawns, wooded areas, and waterways such as the Elsterflutbett. It serves as a vital link between the city and the surrounding floodplain forest, making it both a natural retreat and an urban landmark. Visitors can enjoy jogging paths, playgrounds, and picnic spots, while cultural highlights include the historic music pavilion, the Glashaus café, and an open-air stage that hosts concerts and festivals in summer. The park is also home to monuments and sculptures that reflect Leipzig’s layered history. It is the city's largest park after being redefined in 2011, encompassing the former Scheibenholz and König-Albert parks. The park serves as a green oasis that connects the northern and southern parts of the Leipzig Riverside Forest and is divided by the Elsterflutbett flood channel, linked by The Saxons' Bridge. Nearby, visitors find key cultural venues and urban amenities, with easy access via tram lines 1, 2, 7, 8, 15, and 16, as well as multiple bus routes serving the area. Attractions within the park include the well-known Glashaus restaurant, a historic music pavilion hosting summer concerts and café garden, a large playground, and walking and inline skating paths. The park is surrounded by Leipzig’s bustling neighborhoods, making it a popular spot for relaxation, outdoor activities, and cultural events close to the city center.
