Built in 1755–56 by the wealthy merchant Johann Caspar Richter as a summer residence, the palace reflects the elegance of Saxon Baroque and Rococo architecture, with its symmetrical façades, ornate stucco work, and orangery wings. Surrounded by a carefully restored garden with statues and a fountain, it preserves the last surviving example of Leipzig’s once-celebrated bourgeois garden culture. In the late 18th century, the Schlösschen became a gathering place for poets, musicians, and intellectuals, earning its reputation as a “court of the muses.” After periods of decline, it was meticulously restored and reopened in 1998, returning to its role as a cultural venue. Today, the palace hosts concerts, theatre performances, readings, and exhibitions, while its elegant halls and salons are also used for weddings and receptions. Located near the Rosental park, the Gohliser Schlösschen offers visitors a rare combination of architectural beauty, historical resonance, and vibrant cultural life, making it one of Leipzig’s most enchanting destinations.

This historic Rococo summer palace was built in 1756 by Johann Caspar Richter and is renowned for its elegant architecture and beautifully preserved Baroque style.
