Gohliser Schlösschen
Built in 1755–56 by the wealthy merchant Johann Caspar Richter as a summer residence, the palace reflects the elegance of Saxon Baroque and Rococo architecture, with its symmetrical façades, ornate stucco work, and orangery wings. Surrounded by a carefully restored garden with statues and a fountain, it preserves the last surviving example of Leipzig’s once-celebrated bourgeois garden culture. In the late 18th century, the Schlösschen became a gathering place for poets, musicians, and intellectuals, earning its reputation as a “court of the muses.” After periods of decline, it was meticulously restored and reopened in 1998, returning to its role as a cultural venue. Today, the palace hosts concerts, theatre performances, readings, and exhibitions, while its elegant halls and salons are also used for weddings and receptions.
